Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do

Translated as "The way of the intercepting fist" - Jeet Kune Do is a hybrid martial arts system founded by Bruce Lee. JKD incorporates minimal movement with maximum effect and extreme speed. The practical nature of JKD allows practitioners to employ different tools for different situations and include kicking, punching, trapping and grappling. Training in JKD allows expression as an individual, maximizing ones natural attributes while developing new ones.

Originally termed Jun Fan Gung Fu (after Sifu Bruce's birth name - Lee Jun Fan) it was not meant to be a style as Sifu Bruce stated in his own words: "I have not invented a 'new style', composite, modified or otherwise that is set within distinct form as apart from "this" method or "that" method. On the contrary, I hope to free my followers from clinging to styles, patterns, or molds. Remember that Jeet Kune Do is merely a name used, a mirror in which to see "ourselves" ... Jeet Kune Do is not an organized institution that one can be a member of. Either you understand or you don't, and that is that."

Originally, the concepts included Western boxing, Wing Chun and Fencing but quickly evolved as Sifu Bruce was a renowned researcher and never set limits on his knowledge.

Sifu Bruce Lee authorized 3 individuals to teach his system - Sifu Dan Inosanto, Sifu James Lee, and Sifu Taky Kimura.

Sifu Dan Inosanto, the leading authority on JFJKD strongly believes that in order to find your own Jeet Kune Do, one needs to understand and learn the original Jun Fan principles that were taught to him by Sifu Bruce. These core principles and techniques are carried on and maintained by WCMAA.

WCMAA proudly carries the lineage of Sifu Dan Inosanto.

Filipino Martial Arts

Filipino Martial Arts refer to both ancient and modern fighting methods developed in the Philippines. The arts are known by several names including Kali, Escrima, Silat or Arnis. FMA is considered one of the most comprehensive martial arts, and even though it is known for its various weapons, it also has highly effective empty hand and grappling techniques. FMA provides the tools necessary for effective self defence and diffusion of confrontational situations as used in several law enforcement agencies. Students also develop increased hand eye coordination and reflexes.

The highly sophisticated and comprehensive martial art from the Philippines is weapon based, but ultimately an empty hand system.

Our FMA classes encompass the teaching methodologies of Guro Dan Inosanto who is considered the world's leading authority on the Filipino Martial Arts. With training and knowledge from 26 primary sources, Guro Inosanto's system includes 12 areas that cover all aspects of hand to hand combat and weaponry including, but not limited to single stick, double stick, stick & dagger, double dagger, panatukan (Filipino boxing), Sikaran (Filipino kicking methods), Kuntao & Silat.

Because of its variety, the Inosanto FMA system is considered the most complete martial art in many circles and is highly effective for practical self defence.

Guro Inosanto's system is on full display in many Hollywood movies, most notably the Bourne Trilogy. The fight scenes were coordinated and choreographed by Guro Jeff Imada of the Inosanto Academy.

Silat

Silat is a blend of indigenous martial arts from the ancient Majapahit Empire that included Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, Philippines and Brunei.

The Majapahit martial arts that is taught at the academy was founder by GT Leo T. Gaje Jr, Suryadi Eddie Jafri and our own Guro Dan Inosanto.

Roughly speaking, Silat means “skill for fighting”. There are hundreds of different styles of Silat and each one specializes in its own way.

Some of the main components of effective Silat training are:

  1. Efficient entry system
  2. Effective follow up techniques
  3. Devastating finishing techniques
  4. Realistic weapons training

At WCMAA we teach the civil side of Silat as well as the potential brutal finishes to showcase the realistic and practical nature of this art.

Silat is showcased in several films including the John Wick series (choreographed by Inosanto Instructor Chad Stahelski), Wonder Woman (choreographed by Inosanto Instructor Damon Caro) and The Raid Redemption to name a few.

Wing Chun

Wing Chun is an explosive Chinese system of kung fu that is based on sensitivity for use in practical self-defense. It was one of the original martial arts included in Sifu Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do system/concept.

Wing Chun was developed by a woman and relies on leverage and sensitivity rather than muscular strength to overcome an opponent. Training develops speed, reflexes, and power to apply in many forms of combat. Training in Wing Chun will develop coordination, body awareness, and sensitivity.

Sifu Marvin is a member of the Francis Fong Instructor Association.

Sifu Fong is one of the top Wing Chun instructors in the world. He studied in Hong Kong under Si-gung Jiu Wan.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) is the national sport of Thailand. It is not just a ring sport but also very beneficial for self-defense, personal growth and it's intense workouts ensure that your physical goals will be met.

WCMAA strongly believes that cross training is mandatory for any successful martial artist and Muay Thai provides that ideal mix of coordination, power, agility and fitness for even recreational Martial Artists. Muay Thai is an integral part of our curriculum.

Muay Thai was brought to the US by Ajarn Surachai Sirisute in the 1960's. Ajarn Chai founded what is the oldest and largest Muay Thai Organization in the USA in 1968 - The Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A.

The instructors at WCMAA teach Muay Thai under the guidance and teachings of Guro Dan Inosanto and Guro Daniel Lonero who are both certified instructors under Ajarn Chai.

Little Dragons

Discipline, respect, motivation and self-confidence are keys in achieving success in any undertaking. Martial Arts are no exception and WCMAA strongly believes and enforces these attributes in our kids program.

A solid foundation is mandatory for achieving great heights. The Little Dragons program at WCMAA includes core training from Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, Guro Dan Inosanto's Filipino Martial Arts, Sifu Francis Fong's Wing Chun, Ajarn Chai's Thai Boxing, and Silat.

A well-defined curriculum provides a solid foundation for graduation to the adult class.
