About Our Logo

TRIANGLE
The triangle is one of the strongest geometrical structures and represents strength. The triangle represents the strength and quality of our teachings based on our foundation and lineage. Many Martial Arts include applications of the triangle such as defensive and offensive tactical strategies including footwork, stances, blocking and disarms.
WEAPONS AND THAI FIGHTER
Filipino Kris (sword), daggers, sticks and fist - Filipino Martial artists are noted for their ability to fight with weapons or empty hands interchangeably and their ability to turn ordinary household items into lethal weapons. Weapons-training takes precedence because they give an edge in real fights, gears students to psychologically face armed opponents, and any object that can be picked up can be used as a weapon using FMA techniques. Empty hands training is then taught as the stick is merely an extension of the hand.
Muay Thai provides that ideal mix of coordination, power, agility and fitness for even recreational Martial Artists. Muay Thai is an integral part of our curriculum.
JKD LOGO
The JKD logo includes the "yin and yang" which literally means "shadow and light". It is used to describe how polar opposites or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and how they give rise to each other in turn in relation to each other. The arrows represent the endless interaction between yang and yin. The Chinese writing translated means - "Using no way as way" & "Having no limitation as limitation"- This statement underlines the teachings and philosophy of JKD. The JKD Association Canada is prominently included in the academy logo and it highlights Western Canada Martial Arts Academy's amalgamation between Sifu James Lee's teaching in JKD and Guro Inosanto's teachings in Jun Fan JKD.
